What stood out about the results of the survey from the August to October 2025 intake?
The survey included 461 institutions across 63 countries reporting on their August to October 2025 intake. It's the largest intake period of the year, accounting for almost 60% of English-taught programme start dates globally, particularly in the Northern Hemisphere.
US and Canadian universities face historic enrolment drops
Most institutions in both countries reported steep declines, with Canadian universities now planning budget and staffing cuts.
Visa restrictions are the top concern
Government policies are now the biggest obstacle to international enrolment, with US institutions reporting the sharpest increase in concern.
Asian and European universities are growing while North America shrinks
Students are increasingly choosing alternative destinations as the US and Canada struggle with restrictive policies.
