On behalf of the CaribErasmus project, StudyPortals has the pleasure of inviting you to attend the Seminar ”Higher education cooperation between the Caribbean and Europe: challenges and opportunities”, which will take place on the 4th of July 2012 in Brussels/Belgium, in the ACP House (451, Avenue Georges Henri, 1200 Brussels – see directions here). Attending this seminar is useful to create contacts with Caribbean universities and networks, but also to get to know more about the Caribbean higher education landscape and actors.

CaribErasmus is a project from the European Commission that aims to foster cooperation among European and Caribbean higher education institutions in a structured and sustainable perspective. In line with the ERASMUS MUNDUS logic, CaribErasmus intends to increase attractiveness of EU Higher Education by facilitating and supporting mutual knowledge and information sharing in a collaboration perspective, that means not through one-way promotion activities but rather through long-term partnership building (the slogan of CaribErasmus is “promote and improve by sharing”).

The event will gather experts and decision makers involved in EU – Caribbean cooperation in higher education and in academic internationalisation, and has the following objectives:

a) to present some cases of academic excellence from the Caribbean region;
b) to present the findings of the CaribErasmus Project, including the Green Paper on EU-Caribbean Higher Education Cooperation, proposing a set of future-oriented actions to improve cooperation among the two regions in higher education and research;
c) to highlight the EU – Caribbean cooperation in the field of higher education in terms of achievements and future challenges;
d) to facilitate knowledge exchange among all the projects and platforms active in supporting EU-Caribbean cooperation in the fields of higher education and research.

An outline of the event and a preliminary agenda are attached. Participation to the workshop is free of charge, interpretation will be provided in English, French and Spanish.

To confirm your attendance please e-mail Mrs Jimena Arango, jimena.arango@menon.org
