Eindhoven, The Netherlands, 18 March 2021 – Studyportals joins the Global Education Coalition launched by UNESCO, pledging to build a future where no-one will be missing out on an education opportunity due to a lack of information.
The Global Education Coalition is a platform designed to protect the right to education during this unprecedented pandemic, and beyond. It brings together over 160 members from multilateral agencies, local education organisations and prominent global organisations such as WHO (World Health Organization), Microsoft and Google. The challenges to education caused by COVID-19 call for innovation, partnership & solidarity. That is why Studyportals has teamed up with UNESCO to support countries and ensure that #LearningNeverStops.
With their unique global network of students and universities, Studyportals will contribute to The Coalition’s three objectives:

  • supporting the equitable continuation of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • ensuring a full and equitable return to education following the pandemic
  • strengthening learning systems for the future

Studyportals pledges to assist students around the world in their journey to find their best-fit study programme and to discover solutions in overcoming obstacles to learning such as lack of funding, proximity, time. It assists universities and providers of funding and innovative learning solutions to be discovered by worthy students. As well as helping governments and associations to make data-driven decisions on expanding access and answer market demand in the regions they target. Studyportals aim to close digital divides and enhance connectivity for education.

Edwin van Rest, CEO and Co-founder of Studyportals, comments:

‘There is a massive and diverse set of global obstacles for education access, and the global pandemic has widened that divide. However, an increasing amount of learning opportunities arise daily of a broad nature and some of them particularly geared to mitigate these obstacles – e.g., zero/low-cost options, low-bandwidth, work-and-learn solutions, online education, competency-based learning, adaptive learning, all types of blended forms and so on.

One of the biggest obstacles however is often overlooked: awareness and information. Many students faced with an obstacle do not have the information on the offerings out there that would mitigate that obstacle. Some do have a hunch but not the confidence that it could work for them.

We pledge to eliminate the information obstacle. Through comprehensive data, transparency and user-friendly platform, we make sure there is a future where no one needs to be missing an education opportunity due to a lack of information.’
