Valeriia Iegorova is the fifth beneficiary of the 1,000 € Scholarship, which is awarded by StudyPortals every quarter. She is originally from Ukraine and has been selected from over 1,800 applicants to receive the Scholarship, awarded in the third quarter of 2014. She impressed us with her diverse interests, academic and extra-curricular involvement and perseverance in following her dream to study abroad.

Valeriia has just started the Master’s programme in Luxury Goods Management – EMLUX, offered by the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC).

Valeriia shared with us her motivation to study abroad, as well as the challenges she encountered on the way towards fulfilling her dream:

“The idea of studying abroad was always on my mind since I was 17 years old. Frankly speaking (I don’t know whether it is good or not), but I am a terrible perfectionist, especially when it comes to my self-development and skills improvement – I see that there are so many things that I don’t know, so many cultures I want to explore, so many people I would like to share the experience with. And the thing that could provide me with all these unique opportunities was studying abroad. I chose 4 universities where I wanted to study, and one of them – Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – gave me the scholarship for obtaining the Master’s degree here in Milan.

I must confess that my way to studying abroad was not that easy, mainly from the psychological point of view: at first I didn’t even believe that it would be possible to get the scholarship because so many talented and clever students were applying to the programmes I had chosen for myself. And, to be honest, I almost gave up this idea – I was not sure enough that it would have a positive outcome. I am so grateful to my parents, friends and teachers who inspired me and brought me back to life, to my dreams – thanks to these people (who are giving me great support even now) I made one of my dreams come true.”

She was very happy to be the lucky one reciving the StudyPortals Study Abroad Scolarship:

“The news from StudyPortals that I have been awarded with the StudyPortals Study Abroad Scholarship made me extremely excited and happy! I’m planning to spend this money on covering a part of the tuition fee at the university and one some memorable things that will remind me about the winning of this scholarship.”

Last but not least, she also had a message for all students out there:

“I wish you good luck! Work on your skills and believe in yourself!”

Congratulations, Valeriia! We wish you all the best in your Master studies and we hope your story will inspire others to also choose (for) education.
