Professor Koen Becking

Dr Koen Becking is the former Rector Magnificus and Chairman of the Executive Board of Nyenrode Business University since 1 October 2020. His position at Nyenrode University finalized in 2024. Previously he acted as President of Tilburg University from 2012. Before his chairmanship of the board at Tilburg University, Koen Becking was, among other things, chairman of the board of the KRO, director of the National Training Institute, the largest Dutch public media company. Prior to KRO, he was CEO at the Dutch Institute for Public Administration.

Koen studied Political Science and Governance at the University of Amsterdam and holds a Ph.D from Utrecht University. He is a fellow (MPA) of the Netherlands School of Government and currently Honorary Professor at the School of Public Leadership at Stellenbosch University, South Africa.

He is a board member at Brainport Development, chairman of the strategic advisory board on strategy and policy for TNO and chairman of the Brabant Startup Program, called Braventure.
