As Product Owner in the Engineering team The Night’s Watch, Sebastian ensures that internal tools evolve in the right direction. He bridges business needs and technical solutions, sets clear priorities, and drives product development so that colleagues and university partners can work together as efficiently and effectively as possible. Sebastian studied Marketing before building his career in the digital and eCommerce industry, where he worked extensively on payment solutions, customer service processes, compliance, and platform optimization. Originally from Germany and now based in the Netherlands, he enjoys shaping tools that make a real difference for users. With his combined background in business and technology, he thrives on creating pragmatic solutions that deliver value quickly.

Outside of work, Sebastian enjoys cooking and traveling, but is equally at home with a good board game, a late-night video gaming session, or a competitive match of handball or padel. At home, his cat makes sure he never forgets who’s really in charge.

The biggest challenge for Sebastian is to bring diverse internal tools under one roof, creating a single source of truth that ensures seamless user experiences and efficiency across workflows and processes. Since these systems form the IT backbone of the company, his mission is to build solutions that not only function reliably but also empower people to do their best work.

For Sebastian, the best part of Studyportals is the diversity — people from so many different cultures coming together, learning from each other, and creating an open, supportive atmosphere. He especially enjoys the social side, whether it’s Friday afternoon drinks, a lively ping pong tournament, or the many activities that bring colleagues closer together. For him, it’s a truly welcoming “feel at home” culture.
