Tony Chan
Professor of Mathematics, UCLA & Former President, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST)Dr. Tony Chan is a Professor of Mathematics at UCLA and one of the most cited mathematicians in the world, with over 200 published articles. His research spans computational mathematics, image processing, and computer vision.
Tony has held senior leadership roles at some of the top research universities, including as President of KAUST and previously as President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Earlier in his career he served as Assistant Director for Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the US National Science Foundation. He holds degrees from Caltech and Stanford, and sits on the boards and advisory committees of institutions and government bodies across the Middle East, Asia, and the US, including the Yidan Prize Foundation and ETS. He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of IEEE and AAAS.
