Enrolment challenges in 2025: Data you can’t miss

It’s been a challenging period for student enrolment. In partnership with NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Oxford Test of English (Teaching English with Oxford), we once again gathered fresh enrolment data for institutions across the world. 240 institutions across 48 countries responded, revealing crucial trends, such as:
Regional shifts: Postgraduate students are turning away from the US, Canada and Australia, with the UK, Europe and Asia reaping the benefits
Visa and policy Barriers: 62% of institutions cite government policies and visa restrictions as major obstacles. Budget cuts: 67% of Canadian institutions view them as very likely over the next 12 months (compared to 38% of institutions globally), as well as 64% of institutions in Australia and 57% in the UK.
Diversification into new markets remains the most universally anticipated strategy among the institutions.
