Andrew Ness
Senior Vice-President, Analytics and Consulting, North AmericaAccording to Andrew, Studyportals has one of the richest expanses of international marketing, recruitment and enrollment data in the world. Andrew’s role is to help international enrollment practitioners harness the power and knowledge within the datasets to affect meaningful change on campuses and in outreach efforts. Beyond data provision, he acts as a professional collaborator on campus to ensure the stories told by the data are interpreted meaningfully and deployed effectively. His work extends beyond enrollment offices. The power of the data to influence policy-makers, C-suite post-secondary executives, and government officials knows no bounds. He works with colleagues to harness that power for the greater good of international education.
With over thirty years of experience in post-secondary enrollment management, primarily in Canada, but also in the US and the Middle East, he has led large (60+ staff) international education teams and received recognition for their achievements both nationally and globally. He continues this work because he has witnessed the impact: unlocking the incredible potential of globally mobile, professionally driven young people by providing educational opportunities where, when, and how they need them.
He often reflects on the saying, “a thousand mile journey begins with a single step.” He sees immense potential and opportunity for young people, and a constant need to support the dedicated enrollment professionals around the world, though time always feels limited. His focus remains on prioritization, clarity, and dedication each day.
Though new to the Studyportals team, he brings decades of experience. What stands out to him is the organization’s deeply rooted values and clear mission. These values are evident in conversations, actions, and client relationships. That values-first ethos is what makes him fully committed to the work.
Outside of his professional life, Andrew is a lifelong musician who’s been playing gigs since the age of 14. Music remains his passion, and he’s grateful to now be in a phase of life where he can play, learn, grow, and create through many musical outlets.
