Arunima specialises in higher education market intelligence, with a focus on international student demand, policy environments, and mobility trends. She conducts in-depth desk research and analysis using Studyportals data, and external market intelligence to support institutions in understanding their positioning within the global higher education landscape. Her work brings together quantitative insights and policy analysis to assess how multifaceted factors shape student decision-making and institutional competitiveness.

Arunima holds a Master’s in Development Studies, specialising in social policy for development with a focus on children and youth, and a PhD in Comparative Literature. Her doctoral research was interdisciplinary, examining themes of feminism, displacement and refugee experiences, and conflict. Her academic background also includes expertise in discourse analysis, media studies, and war and peace studies, reflecting a strong interdisciplinary and globally oriented foundation.

In addition to her academic training, Arunima brings professional experience across higher education and student housing. She has four years of experience in the Netherlands in the student housing sector, where she led research on student experience and wellbeing. Prior to this, she worked in universities in India and Spain in a range of strategic and data analysis roles, contributing to institutional decision-making.

Arunima’s key challenge is maintaining the balance between generating deep, high-quality insights and ensuring that findings are clear, accessible, and meaningful to stakeholders.

Arunima wants to focus more on healthy living, and spending more quality time with family. Arunima enjoys playing cozy games on her Nintendo Switch, taking walks in nature, cooking and dancing (sometimes both at the same).
