Maria Sofia Milano

Maria Sofia supports marketing and communications within Uni-Life. Her work focuses on creating engaging communications, managing the student experience within the app and developing visual content that encourages students to connect, while also supporting the needs of partner universities.

Born and raised in Italy, Maria Sofia is both Italian and Swedish. She moved to the Netherlands to study Communication and Media before continuing her academic journey with a Master’s degree in Sociology in the United Kingdom. Her international and interdisciplinary background shaped her interest in how education influences people’s identities, opportunities and sense of belonging. She is particularly interested in how higher education can adapt to a changing world and how thoughtful communication can help students navigate their choices, connect with others and make the most of the opportunities available to them. Outside of work, she enjoys being actively involved in her community, going to the cinema, dedicating herself to yoga and finding new things to explore.

Her key challenge is understanding what students need and creating meaningful communication that helps them navigate an increasingly complex higher education landscape while feeling informed, connected and supported.

Her personal goal is to create a life that feels ambitious, meaningful and true to herself, while showing up fully at work and giving back to her community and village.
