When AI surges and Computer Science softens: How universities should respond
Over the past 12 months (February 2025 to January 2026), student interest in Artificial Intelligence master’s programmes grew by 14.2%, the biggest jump of any tech field. These figures track each field’s share of total master’s-level student searches and how that share has changed over the past year.
Most other tech fields moved in the opposite direction. Computer Sciences, still the most searched field in tech at 2.53% of total demand, dropped 8.9%.
