Studyportals International Student Satisfaction Awards 2014 – Spain
Studyportals would like to congratulate all universities and universities of applied sciences that won an award. Unlike other university rankings, Studyportals’ International Student Satisfaction awards are based on thousands of reviews and opinions from international students in Europe. Among the Spanish universities that received sufficient reviews of international students to be eligible for the International Student Satisfaction Awards, a total of 23 universities received ratings ranging from “very good” (at least 8 out of 10) to “excellent” (at least 9.0 out of 10).

A total of 1149 international students reviewed and rated their study experience in Spain. These reviews form the total of 2742 comments, with an average of 2.4 comments per review. Most students who have reviewed their experience are originally from Europe and studied in Spain for less than one year.
Reasons to (not) recommend an international study experience
- International students recommend Spain for its great cities, vibrant culture, and active social life
- While students mention city and culture less than the European average, when they do they mostly praise Spain for its amazing cities and history
- Half of all complaints from international students in Spain concern academics, specifically addressing the low level of education, the language of instruction, the teaching methods, and the teachers
- In comparison to the European average, personal and professional development is more important to international students in Spain, especially emphasizing on the importance of learning a new language
- Students find university services less important than the European average; however, when they do comment on it they mostly complain
